Stay focused...on Jesus!

Tonight I went to worship band practice for church on Sunday(I love to sing). It’s routine to always pray before practicing, just to get our minds clear and hearts open. I should tell you that this weekend will be rather busy and stressful and I didn’t even really want to go to practice, nor pray. But, God had something else in mind. Anyways, we were all praying and I felt completely free! That reminded me of the song I had just listened to which includes a direct quote from the bible: “…Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” 2. Cor. 3:17b. I hadn’t really in the past been able to understand what that meant but tonight I felt such freedom to talk to God, to tell him what was bothering me, my fears, and requests and so on. I felt God so near to me like I hadn’t in a while. It was a time for me to cry out to him and be restored by his Peace. Towards the end, I couldn’t (or didn’t want to) keep on talking, He had something to say to me.
But for you to understand its importance to me, I have to go back about an hour.
I had decided to instead of taking the bus, from the train station to the church, to walk there. It’s about a 10 minute walk, not too bad. Anyways, I began to think about the following weeks and starting high school. I really wanted to know what God wanted me to pay special attention to, concerning our relationship. So I prayed:”Lord, what is it that you want me to learn this year, which verse do you want me to focus on this year?” I had no idea that his answer was right around the corner...
Back to “God had something to say”
I was just standing there feeling his presence in a tangible way and I heard how he clearly said: “Joyce, I want you to stay focused on me. No matter what’s going on around you, keep on running your race with your eyes completely focused on me, your Best friend.” I immediately knew that he was talking about Hebrews 12:1+2 “And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, The author and perfector of our faith” Exactly what I needed to hear!
The whole evening turned out to be amazing! How wonderful it was to worship him like that after being so closely touched by him! I actually could hardly stand on the stage singing into a mic! It was really funny and awesome! God is just too good to us! You don’t wanna miss out on what he has planned for you and honestly, I have no idea what he's got in plan for me but I know it’s gonna be Great! Remember that God answers prayer and that he really wants you to stay focused on him because it’s the best thing you can do, no matter what you’re going through, he’s always there!
Well, I guess there’s my answered prayer, my verse, my encouragement to you, my blog title explanation and a young girl (me) completely overwhelmed once more with the love of her Savior and best friend, Jesus Christ.
